I’ve been making a push to finally visit some of the Los Angeles restaurants that have been on my list for way too long. Share our Strength’s Taste of the Nation Los Angeles is not for the faint of stomach, as every year there seems to be way more delicious food to try than would be advisable for any mere mortal. However I have a clear memory of summoning my courage and overcoming significant protests on the part of my body to sneak in one more sample at the 2012 event: a grilled pimento cheese and potato chip sandwich from Ink Sack. It was worth it and the tiny sandwich shop from Michael Voltaggio has been on my ‘need to visit’ list ever since (that’s right, for over a year). Fortunately I finally made it and it lived up to my expectations entirely. The only problem was once again the sad truth of our inability to taste everything on the menu, so more visits will have to follow and hopefully not after another year has passed.
p.s. – Sitting at the shop’s tiny counter we learned that if you’re looking to meet beautiful women in Los Angeles, the surest bet is to get yourself a pet pig and walk it around on a leash. Can’t make this stuff up.
